I thought it was all set but since I didn't have my original email they would not honor the original rate. The customer service agent at Choice, Wenzee, was the most helpful (I spoke to at least 6 agents) and even created a reference number for me. I spoke with multiple agents at Choice Hotels that told me they could see the original reservation and where the hotel changed the rate without my knowledge on 9/12. I made the reservation on 9/7 and then received an email that they changed the rate on 9/27.
I've spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Choice Hotels customer service and got the hotel manager involved twice with no resolution. The hotel is great but I gave it one star since they didn't honor my original reservation.
